"From what I’ve read, no one captures this longing/awareness quite as well as Dana Tierney"

Don't mistake the longing of a single atheist with the longing of us all.

I, for example, don't long for more. I am quite happy and content with everything in the world.

Thanks for the comment, James. I think it's good to appreciate and acknowledge the historical roots of our Christian faith, and observing Lent this year is one way for us at Brookside to do that.

Also, thanks for the "Lenten Prayer" you passed along earlier today. I'm going to "steal" your recommendation and post a link to it here as well, for those interested. Here's the link:

Excited for the service and for the Lenten season. There's a rich tradition in the 2,000 covenant community of believers and we contemporary believers would do well to acquaint ourselves with it!

Very "deep church-ish" by the way. :)

Tim, I think your list is great, for those who are nearing death, and those who won't for a long time. Lately, I especially feel that "Interact with people who have “fewer days ahead than they do behind.” is great advice for all of us, at any stage of our lives. As I look back to some of the small groups we've been involved in, I realize the value of having people at different stages in life involved in the group. We have learned a bunch from those more "seasoned" than us and hopefully, they've learned a little from us as well. I think that when I was "back on the farm" there was a lot more valuable interaction between the generations. But when we move away from that and to the "big city" we tend to interact more with our peer group. I'm convinced that doing so is to our detriment.
